There are few things more soothing and calming than the gentle rocking of a boat, so why not build a baby cradle along the same lines? This cradle is based on the design of the actual Flattie skiff, a workhorse of a boat that has seen service in Europe and North America alike. The construction is a combination of Birch and Cherry hardwood with a rich Cherry stain. Traditional rose headed copper rivets secure the planks, and the hardware is all solid brass.
One client told us that if their newborn began fussing in the night, a simple swing of the cradle would have him back to sleep in no time, and the baby even began to rock the boat himself. This is truly an heirloom piece that, like the original flattie skiff, will be pressed into service for many years and generations.
