Project: Entertainment Center
Features: Lyptus material, speaker cloth doors, and full extension rollouts for components and collections.
ShopNotes: This entertainment center needed clean lines and an oriental feel in order to blend with the homeowners' other furnishings. But form is only half the equation in designing furniture and several requirements dictated the function of this piece. Standing just over three feet high and only 22 inches deep, it houses an extensive DVD and VHS library, four speakers and several electronic components. There are five speaker-cloth panels that match the color of the wood and the two low center doors mask the woofer speaker that sits directly on the floor. Custom designed feet were inspired by the other Oriental furniture pieces in the clients' home. Lyptus was chosen as the building material for this project, since it was similar in color and grain to the existing Rosewood furniture at significantly less cost.
